In this course participants will meet the ladies who played important roles in Mozart’s life—his family, friends, singers, lovers, and the women portrayed so vividly in his operas. We’ll be viewing clips from many of Mozart’s operas: Mitridate, Idomeneo, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, Così fan tutte (The School of Lovers), and The Magic Flute.
Donald Loach is Associate Professor Emeritus of music at UVA, where he taught courses in music history and theory, conducted the University Glee Club, and the University Singers. Dr. Loach received his BA at Denver, a MMus at Yale, and a PhD at the University of California Berkeley.
