Technology and Jobs: Will it be Different This Time?
Cars and trucks (and taxis) that drive themselves? Factories and warehouses that operate 24/7 in the dark? Fast Food restaurants where the customer is the only visible human? One writer suggests that the technological future facing us is a tsunami. But we have been here before, right? Our experience tells us that new technologies have been both disruptive and life-enhancing. This class will include discussions, case studies and writings, and guest speakers. The goal of the course is to give each of us a better-informed perspective on this critical question such that we may guide our own futures, that of our families, and our communities.
