Let’s Debate Future Directions in US Health Care

Our US health care system is a mess, and the participants in this discussion group will figure out how to fix it!  Well, more realistically, we will create some possible road maps to a better health care system of the future. The US spends twice as much on health care as other rich countries and gets worse results. Proposed solutions are all over the map. Liberals often advocate a greater role for the federal government, such as a single-payer system.  Conservatives often advocate for letting the free market work its magic. Meanwhile, the public debate seems stuck at the bumper-sticker level.  In a round-table format, we will evaluate US health care reforms that goes well beyond whatever incremental changes are currently being discussed by our politicians. Bring your thinking caps! Note: This course does not meet on Friday, November 23.
