Country Music: Early Poetry of Charles Wright *DATE CHANGE* See new dates to the right

This course explores the early poetry of Charles Wright who has published over 30 books and was awarded the top honors a poet can earn; Wright taught at the University of Virginia from 1983-2010.  This class will orient the reader to poems that the critic Helen Vendler said are like paintings doing “their work silently for a period of time before... a proposition... break[s] in.” Although the focus of the class is reading poetry, participants will be encouraged to do some creative writing. One session will be at the Special Collections Library at UVA.
