Leadership: Animal, Mineral or What? *This class meets for 3 sessions (see dates to the right)

We will have a Socratic discussion on several topics during this course. First, Defining Leadership: What exactly does it mean? Do definitions vary based on where you stand in the heirarchy? We will do a great boss/bad boss exercise. Next, Defining Leaders... Are there common traits among leaders across discplines? Do some disciplines require distinct traits? Who are great contemporary or historic leaders? (Washington, Lincoln and FDR are givens.) We will also discuss Leadership vs. Management and some of the differences. There will be leadership lessons from Vietnam, taught by someone who fought there, and leadership lessons from Iraq, taught by someone who fought there.

Instructor Bio:

Joe Junod spent 40+ years in the newspaper business as a reporter, editor, and senior corporate executive. For the final 15 years of his career, he led a Fortune 100's company's customer service and quality improvement efforts. He founded The Leaderrship Academy, which trained mid-level executives to prepare for larger roles.
