Interior Design Just Beyond Basics
In this five-week course we will work from the basic elements and principles of design and concentrate more on color and pattern, feng shui, and how to make your spaces fit your needs. We’ll include scale drawing with graph paper, so that furniture arrangements become clear by looking at the ergonomics of space—how much space it takes to perform specific tasks. Lighting will be discussed, concentrating on what’s new in the market. Aging in place can be much easier when it’s thought out beforehand and you can adapt as needed!
Beth Young is a past-president of the Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers and has been practicing design for more than 30 years. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Denver and pursued graduate studies in Interior Design. Her career spans large-scale corporate design in Denver, teaching at Mary Baldwin College, and her private practice, which includes residential and commercial interiors in and around Virginia.
A tape measure to be used at home, graph paper, pencil, and eraser. Scale rulers will be provided for use during class.
