Art in Early Medieval England: The Saxons through the Plantagenets
This course, which is organized according to the reigns of monarchs, will cover major, and often seldom-noticed, developments in art, manuscripts, sculpture, and architecture. Many of the images that will be used were taken by me during my extensive travels in England.
Dr. James has taught art history and interdisciplinary courses at Mary Baldwin University in Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque Art. She directed the Renaissance Studies in Italy program at Mary Baldwin College, taking over fifteen student groups to Italy and Northern Europe. Currently, Dr. James is a Study Leader for Smithsonian Journeys. She has spoken at the Beverley Street Studio School and Trinity Church, Staunton, the College Art Association, and the Renaissance Society of America.
