Ageism: Lets Start the Conversation

Are you tuned in to the way older adults are mostly perceived in our culture–primarily as folks in decline with little to offer in the workplace or community? The perniciousness of ageism and the prevalence of negative stereotypes affects all of us as it crosses the boundaries of the workplace, healthcare, and the media and infiltrates our own thinking. This course will raise awareness of how deeply entrenched ageism is in our culture and in our own mindsets and present ways to challenge ageism. The class conversations will be stimulated with examples of ageism in all aspects of our daily lives and relevant readings.
