CORE—Conquering Obstacles and Redirecting Energy in an Aging Population
Class 1: Movement assessments of your body in order to evaluate what needs to be focused on in your workout routine. Postural assessments will be done to judge which exercises to incorporate for strength training. The importance of balance exercises for core strength will be discussed and taught. Finally, stretching, its importance as part of the workout and what it does for you will be covered. Class 2: We will expand upon the first class by taking information from volunteer assessments and explaining how strength movements versus functional movements apply to you. We will touch upon cardiorespiratory conditioning, different ways to incorporate it into your workout, what your heart rate should be, and how to maintain interest. Class 3: We will focus on the mental aspects of your workout and how to overcome feeling discouraged, life obstacles, or anything that may inhibit your progress. Class 4: The final session will go over nutrition: how to plan meals, how to eat the proper amount from each food group, how to read labels, and any questions you may have. Also, you will be taught how to make your lifestyle healthy, with habits that you will be able to maintain long-term.
Bill Burnett is the managing partner of Bill Burnett’s Success Studio with more than 25 years of experience in the fitness industry. Having accomplished his long-term goal of owning his own studio, Bill uses a personal touch and research-driven training methods, while most importantly creating an environment that is non-intimidating, friendly, and knowledge based. Jana Burnett received her MEd in sport psychology from the University of Virginia and has more than 15 years of experience, both in the fitness industry and life coaching. Jana encourages clients to set goals for healthy, fulfilled lives and helps them to achieve those goals. AZ Seguerra is an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist with six years of experience working in a physical therapy setting. She graduated from James Madison University with a BS in Kinesiology. She began working at Success Studio two years ago, becoming a full-time trainer last year. AZ teaches clients to warm up effectively prior to a workout, and also teaches exercises to prevent injuries and promote strength. Caroline Banks is a Precision Nutrition Certified Nutritionist who has worked with clients at Success Studio since May 2015. She loves to get clients motivated to make their lifestyles healthier. As the certified nutritionist at Success Studio, Caroline coaches her clients through meal planning, food intolerances, weight loss, and establishing healthy habits. She provides support for each client to make sure they are reaching their goals by measuring their body fat percentage and lean muscle mass.
